Jord Nelsen

Sculptor, drafter, builder

I was born and raised in Maine. I studied sculpture at the University of Oregon, and graduated with a BFA in Sculpture in 1995. I studied under the tutelage of the late great Paul Buckner who taught me about complex form through the intense study of the human figure. Laura Alpert fueled my interest in more abstract concepts. Both disciplines helped to culture my fascination with human experience, history, and sense of place. My various travels over the past 25 years allowed me to try to examine from a more internal perspective people's various challenges and innate senses of themselves and their place.

I am a stroke survivor and interested in making sculpture to reflect those unique challenges to regain ones purpose and vision. I'm really thrilled to be an active member of the Third Space Art Collective.
