Title: Introduction to Screen Printing

We will be going over beginner level 1-color screen printing. In this class students will be learning how to take their ideas from design to finished product – whether it’s a T-Shirt, art print, gig poster / etc. Screen printing is a great way to print multiple copies of a design on various surfaces.
What you’ll learn
1. Screen printing basics – tools, supplies, and an overview of the process.
2. Preparing your design – hand drawn vs. computer generated.
3. Making a screen using recycled wood
4. Working with photo emulsion / Expose your design onto the screen
5. Printing – t-shirts / paper / etc

Supplies You Need to Bring
You will need to bring in a design or have an idea for a design ready to go. We’ll be tracing the designs on to tracing paper. If you’d like to do a computer generated design please bring your design printed out on a transparency. email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions about your design.*It is highly recommended that you work with your own design. If for some reason you don’t want to make a design but would still like to take the class we’ll have a few designs that you can choose from.
- MATERIALS TO PRINT ON (optional)
We will provide newsprint for everyone to print on. You can also bring your own materials such as t-shirts, higher quality paper, etc. Email email@example.com with any questions.
- ADDITIONAL INK (optional)
We will provide enough black ink for students to do about 10 prints each. If you would like to print more or would like to use a different color please bring your own ink. Screen printing ink can be purchased at The Paint Chip / UC Davis Bookstore among other places.
- Frame materials – wood / glue / nails / screen mesh

Location and Parking
Third Space Art Collective is located at 946 Olive Drive, Davis, CA. The entrance is located at the back of the building (behind Redum Burger). You’ll see our sign on the front door, if it’s not open just knock and someone should open the door. There is plenty of parking in front of our building, but please avoid parking across our building during normal business hours (9am-6pm Monday through Friday) as the other businesses need their space while open. There is extra parking all through out the street along Olive Drive that is usually free as well.
Important Workshop Policy
Please be respectful of the short time you and the other participants have to learn and be on time. If you arrive more than half an hour late, we will not be able to teach you what you signed up for. Plan ahead, it always takes time to find on-street parking. To cancel your registration, you must email firstname.lastname@example.org at least 8 days in advance, or risk losing your payment.
If the minimum number is not met in class enrollment, the teacher may opt to cancel the workshop. If this is the case, we will give a full refund of class payment and first choice to enroll in future workshops. We will attempt to give as much notice as possible.
